The Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories (RSTL) is a service unit of DOST-CAR. It is composed of three (3) laboratories: Chemical, Microbiological, and Metrology. It was established in 1998 to cater to the testing needs of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and nearby provinces. The Chemical and Microbiological laboratories started its operation in July 1999 where simple testing needs were accommodated. Through the years and with the help of various projects, the said laboratories were upgraded and gained accreditation as follows:
A. Water Testing Laboratory by the Department of Health (DOH) in 2006;
B. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by the Philippine Accreditation Bureau;
C. Food testing Laboratory by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2014; and
D. Environmental Testing Laboratory by the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources in 2015.
The Metrology Laboratory on the other hand was launched in September 2013 and received its ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation in January 2015. These laboratories provide critical testing and calibration services to food processors, manufacturing industries, MSMEs, hospitals, water refilling stations, petroleum industry, researchers and students, among others.
